JOB SUMMARY

The M365 Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and support of Microsoft 365 services across multi-client environments. This role ensures availability, security, compliance, performance, and seamless user experience across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem—including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Azure Active Directory, and security/compliance workloads.

The engineer collaborates closely with End User Services, Cloud, Security, Infrastructure, and Customer Success teams to maintain a stable and secure M365 environment, drive modernization initiatives, and strengthen identity, device, and collaboration capabilities.

This position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to manage complex enterprise environments, and consistent, high-quality communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Microsoft 365 Administration

·        Manage, configure, and support Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Stream, M365 Groups, and related workloads.

·        Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD): identities, groups, conditional access, MFA, SC-300 controls.

·        Manage licensing assignments, policies, and service-level configurations.

Endpoint & Device Management

·        Manage Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager: compliance, configuration profiles, app deployments, Autopilot, device security.

·        Support hybrid identity, AAD Connect/Cloud Sync, and device lifecycle processes.

Security & Compliance

·        Implement and maintain M365 Defender (AV/EDR, anti‑spam/anti‑malware, DLP, Safe Links, Safe Attachments).

·        Manage retention labels, retention policies, eDiscovery, insider risk, and compliance center controls.

·        Participate in security hardening, least‑privileged access models, and zero‑trust initiatives.


Collaboration & Productivity Platforms

·        Support Teams collaboration including Teams policies, telephony, meetings, call routing, and channel governance.

·        Manage SharePoint Online site structures, permissions, and content lifecycle.

Automation & Optimization

·        Develop PowerShell scripts for bulk operations, reporting, and administrative automation.

·        Optimize performance, identify operational gaps, and recommend improvements.

Operations & Support

·        Serve as an escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 teams.

·        Perform proactive monitoring, health checks, and service analytics.

·        Support customer meetings, workshops, and communication of changes/impacts.

Documentation & Governance

·        Maintain SOPs, KB articles, runbooks, diagrams, and environment documentation.

·        Ensure alignment with enterprise governance, ITIL practices, and change control

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS – TECHNICAL SKILLS

·        3+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 environments.

·        Expertise in:

·        Exchange Online

·        SharePoint Online

·        Teams (MS-700 level)

·        Microsoft Endpoint Manager / MECM

·        Azure Active Directory / Entra ID

·        Azure Virtual Desktop (desired)

·        Intermediate to advanced PowerShell scripting.

·        Strong troubleshooting methodologies across SaaS, PaaS, and endpoint ecosystems.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION

·        Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.

·        ITSM foundation training preferred.

RELEVANT CERTIFICATIONS (PLUS)

·        Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate (MS‑500)

·        Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator (MS‑203)

·        Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator (MS‑700)

·        Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator (SC‑300)

·        Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (MS‑102)

·        Microsoft Endpoint Administrator (MD‑102)

·        Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ‑140) (desired)
